Troubleshooting PDF Forms

Creating PDF Forms

PDF won't upload

Possible causes:

  • File size exceeds 5 MB
  • PDF has more than 20 pages
  • File is corrupted or not a valid PDF
  • PDF is password-protected

Solutions:

  1. Check the file size (right-click → Properties)
  2. Compress the PDF using an online tool or Adobe Acrobat
  3. Count the pages in a PDF viewer and remove any unnecessary ones
  4. Verify the file opens correctly in Adobe Reader
  5. Try re-saving or re-exporting the PDF from its source application

Fields not appearing after saving

Solutions:

  1. Refresh the page (F5)
  2. Clear your browser cache and reload
  3. Re-add the missing fields
  4. Make sure you clicked Save as Draft before leaving the page
  5. Try a different browser (Chrome is recommended)

Can't resize a field

Solutions:

  1. Click the field first to select it — look for the blue outline
  2. Check for small square resize handles at the corners and edges
  3. Reset browser zoom to 100% (Ctrl+0) and try again
  4. Try clicking and dragging a handle more slowly

Filling Out Forms

Can't type in a field

Solutions:

  1. Verify you're in edit mode — a Submit button at the bottom confirms you can edit
  2. Click directly inside the field (not on the PDF background around it)
  3. Try tabbing to the field using the keyboard
  4. Refresh the page and try again
  5. Try a different browser

Signature isn't working

Solutions:

  1. Click inside the signature area first before drawing
  2. Use a click-and-drag motion — don't just click
  3. Click Clear and try again
  4. Switch to a mouse if you're using a touchpad
  5. Refresh the page
  6. Try a different browser (Chrome is recommended)

Form won't submit

Solutions:

  1. Check for red-highlighted fields and error messages
  2. Navigate through every page — required fields on any page must be filled
  3. Make sure all required checkboxes are checked
  4. Check your internet connection
  5. Try saving as a draft, then reopen and submit

Viewing and Exporting

Exported PDF is blank

Solutions:

  1. Try Chrome (it has the best compatibility for PDF exports)
  2. Clear your browser cache and try again
  3. Disable browser extensions temporarily and retry
  4. Try Initial Form Only instead of Form View (All)
  5. Contact your administrator if the issue persists

Exported PDF quality is poor

Solutions:

  1. Make sure your browser zoom is set to exactly 100%
  2. Export from a desktop browser rather than a mobile device
  3. Close other browser tabs to free up memory
  4. Try Initial Form Only for a cleaner output

Can't find the exported PDF

Solutions:

  1. Check your browser's Downloads folder
  2. In Chrome, open download history with Ctrl+J
  3. Try exporting again and select a destination folder manually

Tips for Best Results

For form creators

  • Start with a simple single-page PDF to learn the system before tackling multi-page forms
  • Fill out your own form completely before publishing it
  • Test required-field validation by submitting with empty fields
  • Check the form on Chrome and Firefox, and on mobile if users will access it that way
  • Use Save as Draft while working so you don't lose progress

For form users

  • Navigate through all pages before submitting to catch missing fields early
  • Use Save as Draft for long or complex forms so you can pause and return
  • Draw signatures slowly and clearly; use Clear to start over if needed
  • After submitting, export Initial Form Only to keep a PDF copy for your records
  • Use a stable internet connection before submitting to avoid timeouts
